Along the shoreline of Loch Lomond, and then into the Highlands. Free time at Tyndrum for a coffee then we climb the road into Glencoe and Rannoch Moor. Wonderful scenery, with high mountain tops and sweeping moorland, before passing Ballachulish. We then stop at Fort William for lunch and time to look at the shops, then onwards via Kyle of Lochalsh and “over the sea to Skye” for our overnight stay at the Dunollie Hotel.
Wednesday 4th July
After a hearty breakfast we catch the ferry and cruise to North Uist. In the afternoon, there will be a short tour of Uist passing numerous tiny lochs and beaches, before checking in to the Dark Island Hotel, Benbecula, South Uist. The hotel has spectacular sea views in an idyllic location.
Thursday 5th July
After a leisurely breakfast we head north for the ferry crossing to the largest of the Hebridean Islands, via the Isle of Harris. A rugged landscape of moorland, deep sea lochs and mountains. Against the backdrop is a proud history going right back to prehistoric times. We then travel to the north end of Lewis on the island and to the capital Stornoway. Our stay for the next two nights is at the excellent Caberfeidh. The hotel provides an ideal base for a trip to the islands and prides itself on a warm welcome.
