Marooned between England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales in the Irish Sea roughly 60 miles west of Lancashire lays the pint-sized Isle of Man, some 32 miles long by 15 miles wide. Its small size hasn’t intimidated it into following the rest of Britain however: This unique self-governing kingdom has its own parliament, own postage stamps, own Manx language and own currency, although the English pound is widely accepted. This ancient island offers an extraordinary variety of scenery and attractions set amidst a Viking, Celtic and Anglo-Saxon cultural heritage. The island is famous for its wonderful glens and mountains, dramatic coastlines and long sandy beaches. Amongst its many attractions, you’ll find enchanting medieval castles, ancient village churches, stately homes and beautiful parks and gardens. The island’s old-fashioned Victorian transport is also still in use with steam, electric and mountain railways to choose from as well as a horse tram.

On Queens Promenade, overlooking Douglas beach, the Rutland Hotel is just 10 minutes walk from the Manx Museum and TT Grandstand. Most rooms have sea views and some have balconies. All rooms have satellite TV and an en suite bathroom with a shower and bath. Some rooms have panoramic views across Douglas Bay. The menu at the Twenty One Restaurant includes traditional Manx dishes. The bar serves meals and snacks and is open 7 days a week.
