Itinerary

Day 1

Depart from your local pick-up point and travel south, with comfort stops en-route. Our visit will take us to Dorney Court, home of the Palmer family for over 450 years. ‘One of the Finest Tudor Manor Houses in England’ A grade I listed house built around 1440 and of great architectural importance. It shows the evolution of English country life and of particular interest are the early family portraits, furniture and needlework.

Day 2

View items from the Royal School of Needlework’s extensive Collection of textiles and paper archives. During the tour you will learn about the RSN’s history and development to the present day and you’ll see pieces from the RSN’s Collection which are rarely seen on public view.  The tours include a talk by a staff member, and the opportunity to see, feel and touch items specially brought out from our handling collection. For the first part of the year and to coincide with The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, the Royal School of Needlework will be featuring ‘Royal Connections’ showing pieces from our collection which have been worked for or by members of the Royal family, including letters and archive documents which are rarely seen by the public.

Day 3

A free day in London for shopping or sight-seeing. Optional visit to the evening performance of War Horse, an astonishing production at The New London Theatre.

Day 4

Today we visit Waddesdon Manor, The Rothschild Collection. A National Trust house in Buckinghamshire, created by Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild in the 1870s as a setting for his outstanding collection of works of art and to entertain the fashionable world. It combines the highest quality French furniture, porcelain, textiles and 18th-century decorative arts with Renaissance treasures, magnificent English portraits and Dutch Old Masters. It has one of the finest Victorian gardens in Britain, famous for its recreations of flamboyant 19th century carpet bedding schemes, its sculpture collection and a fully functioning Aviary. Return home to your pick-up point with stops en-route.
