Itinerary

 

Day 1

All aboard, travel towards Aberdeen with comfort stops en-route. Our ship departs Aberdeen at 1700hrs on either the MV Hjaltland or the Hrossey. Enjoy dinner on board with an overnight sailing, staying in an en-suite cabin. The boat has restaurants, bars, shops and a cinema.

Day 2

Wake up in Lerwick. After breakfast we board our coach and meet our guide for the day. A full day sightseeing taking in the unspoilt coastline with huge cliffs and an array of wildlife including puffins. See Shetland ponies and the outstanding site of Jarlshof in the south and Scalloway Castle and Museum. Enjoy some free time in Lerwick. Late afternoon we return to the ship to enjoy dinner served onboard, arriving in the Orkney’s at 2300hrs and on to our hotel in Stromness, in the very heart – overlooking the picturesque harbour of this historic seaport.

Day 3

After breakfast, a full day of sight-seeing with guide, taking in the unspoilt sea and landscapes, bountiful wildlife, outstanding archaeology and an opportunity to discover over 500 years of history. Visiting World Heritage sites of Skara Brae, Stones of Stenness, Ring of Brodgar plus Skaill House, Churchill Barriers, Italian Chapel and Scapa Flow. We stop in Kirkwall for lunch and visit St Magnus Cathedral. Return to our hotel for our evening dinner.

Day 4

After breakfast we depart Stromness for the short crossing to Scrabster by Thurso. Head south along the coast road through Helmsdale, Brora and Dunrobin Castle before reaching Inverness around lunchtime, with free time for shopping and sightseeing. We continue south, through the Spey Valley and on to our overnight stop.

Day 5

After breakfast depart for home making stops en-route.
